This program offers quality animal interaction, specializing in Animal Assisted Therapy programs for Residents living in Aged Care Facilities.
Serenity Farm visits offer uplifting entertainment and a welcome distraction from pain, illnesses or loneliness caused by distance from loved ones. Animals cause laughter and offer a sense or security and protection.
Our vision is to improve Quality of Life. Animals improve the morale of both Staff and Residents, encouraging physical activity, social interaction and verbal communication.
Residents who are unable to attend our group sessions will be personally introduced to a Serenity Farm animal.
Serenity Farm Smile Program has been designed to entertain and gently introduce the interaction between animals the audience and the outside world.
A cuddle with an innocent newborn animal will bring smiles to all watching.
Words are not needed to connect with animals.
Visually seeing a baby animal draws instant and personal special memories from lives they once lived.
Nursing staff play an important and crucial role in coordinating daily the physical, emotional and spiritual needs or residents as individuals. We are often informed by staff members of the positive effects they see in residents coming out of the rooms to socialize with the animals and each other.
Serenity Farm Smile Program
Duration: 1½hrs Session
Animals Include:
- Guinea Pigs & Rabbits (baskets provided)
- Chickens & Ducklings
- Goats, Lambs and piglets and a miniature horse
- We aim to provide a variety of 30 baby animals.
Hands on Display of animals providing residents with brushes to pamper animals, carrot and apple treats for guinea pigs and rabbits. Bottles of milk to feed goats and lambs.
Serenity Farm is proud to be involved and active in Senior Citizen Week to be held in October, 2010. Grants available from local council in your area.
